Case study

The story

ImpressIV is a client build: an interactive 3D storefront where event advertisers explore a venue — modeled from the real building in Blender — and book physical ad spaces (banners, screens, floor graphics) exactly where they will hang. The client’s long-term vision is an operating system for running entire exhibitions: contractors, approvals, operations, and billing.

The problem

Venue ad space is sold today from PDF floor plans and phone calls. Advertisers can’t judge sightlines or context, organizers oversell or undersell inventory, and every booking is manual back-and-forth.

The build

Model the venue photoreally, anchor every sellable surface as data, and let buyers walk the space in the browser — selecting spots with live availability, pricing, and a quote-based checkout. The same spot data powers an admin dashboard for the organizer.

What it changed

  • Advertisers see exactly what they buy: the real wall, the real sightline, in 3D.
  • A guided journey (hall → area → format → displays → quote) turns a complex media-buying decision into steps.
  • Admin back-office manages exhibitions, quote requests, spots, and bookings.

My part

  • Designed and built the entire product: 3D pipeline, booking journey, checkout, and admin.
  • Built the Blender-to-web asset pipeline: cleaned, optimized GLB halls with Draco compression and calibrated lighting.
  • Anchored 370 physical ad surfaces across three halls as selectable, stateful spots with availability and pricing.
  • Implemented the multi-step booking journey with cart drafts and quote-request checkout on Prisma/PostgreSQL.

  • Photoreal 3D venue viewer with walk, orbit, and preset camera views
  • Spot picker: hall → area → format → display selection with live availability
  • Cart and quote-request checkout with campaign details
  • Admin dashboard: exhibitions, quote requests, ad spots, bookings
  • Internal light-designer tooling for calibrating scene lighting per hall

Hard parts

  • Keeping photoreal GLB scenes fast enough for the browser (compression, instancing, render-quality modes).
  • Designing a booking flow that feels simple while the underlying inventory is spatial and stateful.
  • Building admin tooling early enough to operate real venues without hand-editing data.
